What would increase students intrinsic motivation, interest, and enjoyment of school? CHOICE! Students who are motivated and interested in what they are learning have an opportunity to be more successful in school. I will be implementing academic choice during Language Arts and Math center time. During those times, students will have the opportunity to work independently on a task of their choice. My research expands on academic choice, personalized learning, and motivation. This study is more geared towards the primary grades, but the concepts can be applied to any subject or grade level. My hope is that you are able to walk away with some new knowledge and ideas as to how offering academic choice in the classroom can boost student engagement, motivation, and overall attitude. If you are interested in learning and sharing ideas on how academic choice can boost student achievement, this is the seminar for you!
