“Alex hit me, Olivia took my eraser, Joshua stole my spot in line!”How many times a day do we as teachers hear these complaints from our students? I was frustrated with the bickering in my classroom, so I decided to focus on social emotional learning. I am excited about my research because my students became more self and socially aware of their actions. Although we aren’t a classroom without quarrels and disagreements, we have made significant improvements along our journey together. My main focus was on social emotional lessons, so if you are interested in talking about the different aspects of self awareness, social awareness, self management, and social management, this is the session for you!

I gathered my baseline data through a parent survey, student survey, and self survey, and I also gathered data throughout my research. It has become apparent that the lessons positively affected my students and how they get along with each other. I will continue to teach and discuss social emotional skills in my classroom because I feel it is meeting the needs of my students to further their emotional
