How do body movement brain breaks impact student engagement in a primary classroom? Have you ever found yourself watching or listening to a speaker/teacher and their voice begins to turn into the "wah, wah, wah..." from Charlie Brown? Have you ever studied for something for an extended period of time and when finished you paused and realized you don't remember a single thing you just read? No matter how old we are or where we are, attention span can fluctuate and impact our engagement in everyday activities. The importance of attention can be very critical depending on the context. As our young learners are trying their hardest to absorb new information every day, it takes a toll on their ability to focus and be the best learners that they can be. Sometimes we need a quick reset to wake up our minds as well as our bodies. I know that I am one that needs this from time to time. I want to investigate my topic to see how much exactly do quick energizers or activities in class impact a student's ability to give their mind a break, give their body a breather, and recollect themselves to a state where they can focus and be engaged in their learning greater than before.
