Do you dread teaching class when students just don’t seem like they are interested at all, even when you think you have the most exciting and engaging lesson planned? Do you ask students to work in small groups but then notice that only a few students are doing all the work and others are just doing the minimum to get by? If you would enjoy a lively conversation around offering choice as a way to increase student engagement, I’ve got just the session for you. In my high school Family and Consumer Science classroom, I noticed that students were doing the bare minimum to get by. After researching, I found that offering students’ choice in the classroom can be a huge engagement booster. If you teach any grade level and are interested in talking more about choice to increase engagement, stop by and check out this session!
