Authentic materials are one of the most powerful tools a teacher can use to effectively deliver content, drive student engagement, and motivate learners. Do you know exactly how to select and implement them though? Probably not yet, but that’s exactly what I’ll share with you here! My research focused on the balance between authenticity and comprehensibility. Specifically, I implemented weekly authentic materials in a Spanish 1 class during this academic year, but the implications of my research can extend to any middle or high school level classroom. As teachers, we´re lucky we can take advantage of technology to find excellent teaching tools online in order to add more interest for the learner. My hope is that you will be inspired and walk away with some new, creative ways to incorporate more authentic materials into your classroom that will make your teaching go smoother. If you are currently implementing, considering implementing, or just curious about authentic materials, please join me for a great discussion!
