Classroom community. Morning meeting. Social emotional learning. As educators, we hear about these things constantly, but how many of us can say we’re setting aside time in our day to make sure these things are happening? My research is based on building a strong classroom community and the effects that can have on students. I started implementing morning meetings in my classroom and my students are more engaged in their work, very supportive of each other, and we have built a strong community that I am proud to be a part of. The concepts of community, relationships, communication, and engagement were explored in my research. I believe my research is relevant to all grade levels and discipline areas. If you would like to walk away feeling inspired with new ideas of how to build a strong community in your classroom and engage in meaningful discussion around the importance of doing so, then join this session!
