"I can't do it!" How many times have you heard a student say they can't do something you've asked them to do? I'm excited about my research because I've heard my students add the word "yet" to that sentence, which gives it a whole new meaning. My initial question evolved as the year went on and I realized there were more opportunities throughout the day that I could foster and cultivate my student's growth mindset, in addition to my Morning Meeting. Throughout the lessons we talked about brain development, failure, trust, and resilience. My students learned it's ok to make mistakes, encouraged each other to keep trying, and accepted challenges. In this session, we will have a conversation about how you can incorporate growth mindset concepts throughout your day. Even though I integrated growth mindset into my first grade classroom, the concepts and strategies can easily be transferred across all grade levels. My hope is by the end of this session you will have some strategies you can use in your classroom to help foster the growth mindsets of your students. I will also share some growth mindset children's books and videos I've found along the way. If your goal is to give your students the confidence to help them live up to their full potential, this session is for you!
