How might implementing guided math impact student achievement in a first grade classroom? Raise your hand if you’ve ever seen these issues in your classroom during math. Your students who are further along in their understanding of math are bored? Your students who are earlier on in their understanding are tuning you out because what you are teaching seems to be above what they know? You are constantly feeling like you have to reteach, but have no time? After taking an assessment, you feel as if you failed teaching the concepts for that math unit? If you were able to raise your hand to any of these questions, this is the session for you! I was struggling with all of these issues in my own first grade classroom for my math. I was looking for a way to meet the needs of all of my students, as well as finding a way to make it exciting. I decided to take on the journey of Guided Math and I am so excited to share my results with you. My students have become more engaged and excited about math after implementing Guided Math. My hope is that you when you walk away from my session you will have a better understanding of Guided Math and be excited to implement it into your own classroom.
