Think about your students that come to school each day, pay attention to your lessons, and do their work. Are they engaged or just being compliant? How can you tell? How might you engage your learners so that they want to run into your classroom? Increasing engagement is beneficial to all grade levels and can be applied across disciplines. The engagement strategy I incorporated into my classroom was movement breaks. I looked at how movement breaks impacted active participation during math. What engagement strategies have you used? My hope is that this session will raise awareness to whether your learners are engaged or compliant and give you the opportunity to share and learn new strategies to increase engagement in your classroom.
