Let's be real: we as educators could use a redo of 2020. Did you feel physically exhausted, emotionally drained, and in a sense traumatized from the mounting uncertainty, changes, and stress? So did your students. Personally, I felt initially that maintaining connections and relationships with my students through the online learning model was quite challenging and emotionally distressing. I found myself wrestling with many questions concerning the well-being of my students. Given the distance created by COVID, how might I still regularly check in with my students to learn about how they are feeling? How could I let them know that I hear them and am here to support them? How might I reassure them that my classroom, regardless of the format, is a safe space? If, like me, you struggle with answering these same questions, this is the seminar for you! I invite you to join me in a discussion where we bring social emotional learning to the forefront, and share research and ideas that we believe will help our students navigate these still uncertain times and prepare for the potential changes ahead.
