As a teacher who watches your students grow so much over their time with you, have you ever noticed that it is often harder for students to see their own growth or the other extreme, thinking they have nothing to improve on? Growth Mindset is an educational buzzword these days, but with what I have seen this year, it more than meets the hype. This year I implemented Growth Mindset in my first grade classroom and have watched kids who once gave up, try, try again. I firmly believe even though my research was conducted in a primary setting it can have powerful implications in all of education. Through teaching a growth mindset we explored the impact it made on feedback, mistake making, self awareness, and self assessment. If you already implement Growth Mindset or are interested in implementing it for the first time, this would be a good discussion for you.
