"Why do I care more about the homework than my students do?" I have heard this question from colleagues and asked this question myself throughout my career and decided to try and overcome the obstacle that is student apathy. My hope was that by revamping one of my units to where students had control over what they learned that I'd have less missing assignments to track down. I also hypothesized that if students could pick how they showed off what they learned then saying, "get to work" would go extinct. There were successes and some failures, but my hope is that you will leave this session with ideas for how you can incorporate student choice in your classroom and see an increase in student engagement and motivation.
