Students rolling on the carpet, walking around the room, talking to others, staring at their shoes. When you are teaching do you lose the attention of your students? Do you know how your student is feeling when in your classroom? I am excited about my research because I have implemented different types of movement into my instruction to increase engagement during my lessons. I implemented this action research with my kindergarten students, but I feel it could be implemented at any elementary grade level. The topics I researched were engagement, movement, and self-control. Students started the beginning of my instruction by doing a zones of regulation check-in. If you are interested in how I applied movement in my classroom while monitoring students’ feelings using the zones of regulation. As well as discussing ideas of implementing movement into your instruction. Then this session would be for you.
