You have all heard about social-emotional learning, but how is it being implemented in your school community? What does it look like in a classroom dedicated solely to social-emotional learning? And how does social-emotional learning intervention impact student engagement? I began this research journey wondering how relationships, attitudes, expectations, and interventions affected positive student engagement. Specifically, I implemented social-emotional learning interventions with elementary students through a supportive wraparound process but feel that the implications of my experiences could extend to middle school students. This school year has been anything but typical and I learned a great deal about implementing interventions consistently and with fidelity. Have you considered why schools invest in reading and math specialists but not social-emotional learning specialists? If you are looking for an opportunity to discuss a new and exciting approach to social-emotional learning, this is the session for you!
