“Do we have to do this?” I am sure every teacher has heard this question before. It can be challenging to get students engaged and motivated in some activities. That is why I decided to make that the focus of my research. I wanted to challenge the idea of creating self-determined learners in the classroom through the practice of implementing data folders in my reading group. I believe my research is relevant to most grade levels and is easily adaptable to other disciplines. My hope is that you are able to walk away with a new strategy that you can implement into your teaching the next day. With that being said, if you are looking for a session to help you increase student motivation and engagement, look no further!
