Are your students reluctant to work together? Do they have a fear of being wrong or thought of as not smart by their peers? If you can relate to these situations in your classroom, then this is the session for you. I started my research in this area, because after almost an entire year of distance learning I saw my students’ lack of confidence in their work and willingness to work together; they needed a classroom environment where they felt safe to explore ideas together in order to have a successful learning experience. Specifically, I focused on increasing collaboration with my ninth and tenth grade students in an Honors Geometry class, but I think the strategies I used can apply to any classroom where collaboration is encouraged. From this session I hope you have a better understanding of how growth mindset and collaboration work together in the classroom.
