In our ever increasing demand for jobs in the STEM fields, there stands a challenge as educators to help foster that supply of future innovators and creators in our classrooms now. Creating a positive, engaging, and collaborative classroom environment could possibly create that avenue for the next generation. Inquiry Based Learning has proven to be a strategy that creates that environment that can create that spark of curiosity and discovery for our students. In my research I learned about what motivates this generation of students and how we can best capture those motivations and help our students become lifelong learners. My hope is to provide some strategies to help engage students and energize their imaginations with the science world. If you are interested in increasing student engagement in your STEM classroom, this presentation is for you!
