We know the benefits of high levels of thinking for all students, but did you know that your body has a specific physical response to high levels of thinking? You have surely experienced student responses to questions take on a variety of forms. Sometimes those responses include the same students with their hand up, the common "I don't know," or those students that never get to respond. We will be exploring these topics through the concept of "wait time", also known as "think time," and how you as the facilitator of discussions can increase student engagement and response. I currently teach gifted and talented students in Kindergarten through Middle School, but this concept can be applied to any discipline, age or cognitive level. Join me in my research journey as we discuss creating a strong learning environment through guiding quality discussions!
